On Thin steps and Thick Steps:
When the assembly line thinned the step of production, the bottleneck shifted downstream. That led to warehousing, rail freight, logistics, the Sears, the FedExes etc.
Starting to think there is a parallel for knowledge work now with AI.
Content creation and coding, previously thick steps, are becoming thin.
What happens when there is an OOM more PRs, emails, docs, messages, decks, tables generated with help of AI?
New thick steps and bottlenecks will emerge.
E.g. code reviews and deployment checks can already no longer be human-eyeballs gated, content will need a lot more software tooling for verification, curation, provenance.
