The tip of the iceberg is hate (and the rest is love).
Something you need to remember—if you're a writer or artist or working on anything serious, personal, and real, at any level—is that on X, in public, you see very little love. In general. The essential mindset and behavior is to hate and make fun of things.
The exception is a few specific verticals of saccharine positivity, "western civ," "beauty"/art, and actually the Tech world has its own pockets of boosterism and back-patting undergirded by investment logic (e.g. the Packy McCormick types who just LOVE every new winning startup they want to get a check into, etc.)
The fact is if you're just a normal person making your way in the world and you want to say something or make something...
In one way, X is the best platform in world history. You have a real shot at getting your work in front of the smartest, genuinely coolest, and sometimes wealthiest people in the world. Like you really can, it happens all the time.
The issue is that, in the short term, all you will see on this platform is hate (if you're lucky) or nothing at all.
It's not enough to say "ignore the haters." Everyone says that. But you can't actually ignore it, it has an effect even if you have thick skin! You don't want teflon armor, you want to play offense.
You must love the haters. Prepare for them, tempt them, when they come, get excited, don't hate back but get jazzed up, tell them the truth, you have their number already, they do not have your number yet, nobody has any idea what you're really up to because nobody cares and nobody remembers anything the next day.
If your intentions are pure and your heart is aligned with God—no matter what your skill level or success level or experience—then everyone who is mean to you is a loser by definition and every single one genuinely confirms that you're on the right track.
Every single time I've been inundated with hate on the public side, I'm inundated with love on the private side. The more vitriolic the hate, the more love. And I don't mean "Sorry you f'd up so bad Justin, I'm here for you." I mean, like, "You are sooo right you have to keep going."
In 2026, I'm betting everything on Love. I see brilliant stuff that I love all the time, but I rarely post about it. I'm going to change that.
Don't ignore the haters. Destroy them with kindness.
And know that you are winning.
