This is getting ridiculous. I was part of this conversation and, as anyone can see, @johnnyburtka is not endorsing techno-monarchism or Catholic post-liberalism; he is simply bringing the various strains of thought on the Right into dialogue. Even if you disagree with his conclusions, @PatrickDeneen is a serious scholar who should be welcomed into any debate about the future of conservatism, not treated as grounds for a purge-by-association.
The reality is that we cannot simply recite Reagan and Buckley speeches in perpetuity. The Right is not defined by an unchanging doctrine, but a continuous dialogue about first principles, which includes thoughtful dissent and a variety of opinions. We’re in the midst of profound social, technological, and political changes—and @johnnyburtka is trying to guide that conversation in a productive manner. He’s not a racialist or a conspiracist. The call for his ouster seems opportunistic and unwise.
